Helping to overcome loneliness
Did you know that, according to Age UK, nearly a million older people in the UK go for more than a month without speaking to anyone? Not only is loneliness and isolation a huge problem, it has also been associated with health issues such as depression, sleep problems, hypertension, stress and mental health problems.
At PMSS we strongly believe that no one should feel loneliness or isolation, which is why we’ve created our companionship care service. One of our companionship care assistants can visit you or your loved one as often as is needed to offer support and add that all-important human element to your/their day. A friendly face, or companion, to support with daily activities is often crucial to you or your loved one’s happiness and wellbeing. Our companionship carers very often become good friends with our clients, someone they feel they can easily chat to and discuss and share things with, both when they are at home and out and about.
We provide companions who will genuinely be able to share you or your loved one’s interests, from sport and crossword puzzles to cookery, knitting, gardening and much more besides. We know that spending quality time with someone who understands you and is genuinely interested in your life, interests, hobbies and what’s important to you is very important on many different levels.
What types of services are available?
Our Qualified Caregivers have the experience and compassion to provide assistance with everyday personal care tasks, such as:
- Assisting with morning and evening routines
- Bathing (showers, baths, sponge baths, bed baths)
- Restroom activities (toilet assistance, incontinence, accident monitoring)
- Personal hygiene/grooming (hair care, skin care, oral care, nail care)
- Dressing (clothing selection and assistance)
- Mobility (transfers, walking, range of motion exercises, light exercise)
Where do I receive personal care services?
In most cases, you will receive these services in your own home.
